"Dre" Moreno Valley Police K-9
Dre Moreno Valleys Police K-9 suffered a collapsed lung on Tuesday October 20th of 2015. Dre was immediately rushed to a local veterinary hospital, after several officers from the Moreno Valley Police department responded to a assault call on the 15000 block of Zaharias in Moreno Valley.
D"Dre has been treated for his injuries and resting, he will be in the veterinary hospital for a few days though is expecting to make a full recovery
k-9 "Dre" a German Malinois is 5 years old, and has been with the Department for 3 years
Tuesday at 10:11pm of October 20th, Moreno Valley Police Department dispatched to an address on the 15000 block of Zaharias, regarding an assault. Officers arrived and located a male adult suffering from a head injury. It was discovered that the victim had been struck in the head with a blunt force object, and that 39 year old Noor Kakar, of Moreno Valley was the individual that attacked the suspect, who was at the time standing on the porch with an unknown metal object in his hands.
Additional officers arrived at which time Noor Kakar had entered his residence, Officers attempted to talk Noor Kakar out of his residence, though were unsuccessful. Officers then entered his Noor Kakar residence and found Noor Kakar was holding a knife, Officers then used pepper ball rounds and a taser to disarm Noor Kakar, who then threw the knife at officers and went further into his residence.
Officer Schmidt and his K-9 partner "Dre", where amongst the additional officers that arrived. Noor Kakar had apparently rearmed himself with another knife that he used to stab K-9 Dre when Officer Schmidt released K-9 Dre to the area of the house where the suspect was thought to be. The officers used a taser again and was able to detain Noor Kakar.
Noor Kakar was transported to a local hospital for treatment form the non lethal attempts to detain him. His release from the Hospital will be directly to the Robert Presley Detention Center facing assault and injury of a police service dog, along with several other felonies.
